Obituary of Olive Lenora Tays

TAYS, Olive Lenora, Cooks Brook, peacefully passed away on June 1, 2020 in Grand View Manor in Berwick.

Born in Harrison Settlement, she was a daughter of Annie (Pugsley) and Carl K. Quinn.

She attended Normal College in Truro, and taught school in Halfway River West, Cooks Brook and Musquodoboit Central Elementary in Middle Musquodoboit. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, quilting, knitting, crocheting, local history and genealogy.

She is survived by her children, Philip (Pauline), Wendy (Charley) Vaughan and Heather (Randy) McRae; grandchildren Margaret (Chris), Tom (Lisa), Will, Alex, Matt (Emily), and Scott, and three great grandchildren, Ryan, Charlotte and Evangeline. She is also survived by her sisters Eileen (John) Melanson and Marina Quinn, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, William Tays, sister, Muriel Gavin, and brother, Arnold Quinn.

Due to Covid-19, a private service will be held 2 pm Friday June 5, 2020 in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.  A Livestream of the service can be viewed by clicking on the “LiveStream of Service” button on the funeral home site or directly at  https://distantlink.com/ettingers.html

The family would like to thank neighbors Katherine and Graham Gagne for the kindness and support shown to Olive over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
