Obituary of Winnifred "Winnie" Elta Reid

REID, Winnifred “Winnie” – age 76, Stewiacke, passed away at home on March 8, 2018.

Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Leola (Benjamin) Reid.

Winnie was very creative and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, macramé and stained glass. She worked for Imperial Oil in Halifax and then transferred with the company to Toronto, where she spent many years before returning to Nova Scotia. In retirement, she took up golf and enjoyed bowling and curling. Winnie was very family oriented.  

She is survived by sister, Janet (Paul) Dauphinee; nephew, Leonard (Alana); great nephews, Liam, Kyle, and Lucas.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Charlie; sister, Susan.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Friday, March 16 in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, from where a Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, March 17, Rev. Martin Reid officiating.  A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area.  Interment will be in Gay’s River Cemetery in the spring.

Live Webcast of the service will begin at 1:55pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care, Truro.
