I remember Bill Stacey well. In the 1970's he may have been one of the most eccentric and colourful residents of the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia . I was a teenager who would visit my Grandparents in the Tangier area, and Bill was a local resident always up to something interesting from my perspective.
He dressed differently, he talked differently and he acted differently . He was an exceedingly private man, very quiet and respectful. He was back to the earth in many aspects, and could survive on the land in ways others could only dream of . He was an elf of a man, always cheery and fascinating to talk to. He always smoked a different brand of cigarettes, mixing it up playfully. Nobody did that but Bill Stacey ....
Kids of my age found him captivating. My favourite was when he would re-enact a world championship lightweight or middle weight boxing match, dancing in the mythical ring on his toes and simultaneously providing the ' blow by blow ' commentary. It was pure theatre. He was one of a kind and will not be forgotten ...

I knew Bill from my many little dirt bike rides living in Pleasant Harbour as a teenager.
The trail I took went past his place. He was always a pleasure to speak and listen to! Rip Bill!
