Ashley – Peck
ASHLEY-PECK, Flora Joan – age 85, of Carroll’s Corner, passed away peacefully in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by family, on November 10, 2017. Born in Lantz, she was the youngest daughter of the late Kenneth Preeper Sr. and Gladys (Isenor) Preeper. At the age of 14, she joined the work force and held many jobs- Moirs; Hat & Cap Factory, Sears, and Elmsdale Cheese Plant. In her retirement years, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, knitting, reading, and puzzles; but her greatest enjoyment was celebrating family gatherings, especially those during her cottage years in Mill Lake, Upper Musquodoboit; the greatest joy coming from laughing over her grandsons, Troy & Devin, debating whose fish was the biggest.
She is survived by two wonderful sons, Craig ‘Joe’ (Carolyn) & Carter (Darlene); four grandsons, Craig (Tracy), Chris (Jill), Troy and Devin (Tanya) and granddaughter Kilah. Six great grandchildren, Miley, Tate, Aubree, Layla, Aidan & Rylan. Brother Ken (Leona) and her very great friend and companion for many years, Leigh Fraser; in-laws, Sandra, Earlene, Doris; best friends, Bess & Norman.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Reg Ashley and Don Peck and stepson Ricky Peck; sisters, Dora, Norma, Lois; brothers, Ivan, Murray and two infant brothers. She will be missed by her grand pets, Oliver, Lupin and Mr Kitty, especially for sharing her breakfast each morning.
Thank you to all the wonderful HomeCare girls, Connie Gault (her guardian angel), Leah Hamilton, Donna Sutherland, Donna Watt, Susan Higgins and Pam McCullough and too many more to name. A very special thanks to Dr. William Harvey, Dr. Rosie Kepkay, Dr. Singh, Dr. Philip Smith, and the Cancer unit girls, for all your care and kindness and to all the doctors, nurses and LPNs in Palliative Care who gently watched over her through her final days. There is no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. An open graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at St George’s Church Cemetery in Dutch Settlement, Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating, with a reception to follow at the Riverline Activity Centre in Dutch Settlement.
Family flowers only. Donations to Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences, words of comfort, and memories of Flora may be shared with the Family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com.
