Obituary of Alex Richard

RICHARD, Joseph "Alex " - age 64, Middle Musquodoboit, passed away suddenly as the result of a motor vehicle accident on May 11, 2017. Born March 8, 1953 in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Alexander Joseph Richard and Mary Malvina (Latulippe) Cornwall.

Alex was heavily involved in the Shubenacadie and District Volunteer Fire Department for 15 +years, where he was Captain and was in charge, as well as being part of the best team to set off the fireworks for the community. If you could not find him home or at work, you would be sure to find him at the fire hall. He was with the Bill Lynch Shows for 10 + years where he drove truck and was responsible for setting up taking down the rides. He also drove long haul for years until he landed a job with A.R.C.P that he loved to work at until his retirement due to illness. He had a love for his bike and joined the Red Knights Firefighters Bike Club where he was a member for 6 + years. He loved the outdoors, fishing and camping. He loved his family in his own way, but most of all he loved his grandkids.

 He is survived by his wife, Susan (Nauss) Richard; sons, Alex (Cynthia) Richard Jr., Shawn (Cassie) Richard, Frank Richard, Leonard Gates; grandkids, Tori, Victoria, Rachel, Mari-Jayne and Jase; nieces and nephews, Danielle, John, Lisa, Erika, Percy Jr., and Cory; brother, David Richard and sister, Ann (Percy) Allston. Alex was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Stevens; son, John Joseph (JJ) Richard and mother-in-law, Ida Nauss.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where visitation will 12pm -2pm Monday May 22. A Funeral Service will follow at 2pm., Father Michael Walsh officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
