STEWART, Brenda - Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Brenda Stewart on August 18. There wasn’t a day when she didn’t fight to remain here with her family and friends. As J.R.R. Tolkien wrote, “It is not the strength of the body that counts, but the strength of the spirit.” Brenda had a warrior’s spirit every step of the way throughout her four-year battle.

With a smile as bright as the reflection on the water where she loved to fish, and hands as gentle and caring as the crafts she loved to create, Brenda brought warmth to everyone around her. She was a wonderful friend to have in your corner whether you needed a listening ear, someone to laugh with, or a golfing buddy.

Her love for her family ran strong and deep. She was always there to offer advice, share a recipe, or help in any way she could for those she loved. She was an amazing mom, an incredible mother-in-law, and the best Nana her granddaughter could ask for. Wherever you found Brenda, you could be sure to find her loving husband of 47 years nearby. They grew up together, built a family together, and loved every part of life together. From bowling and card games to everything in between, they were each other’s foundation, best friend, and true soulmates.

Her family would like to thank all the personnel at the VG in Halifax, for the amazing care she received throughout the past few months, right down to the cleaning lady, the care couldn't have been better, or more appreciated. 

A cremation burial service will take place at St. John the Baptist Anglican Cemetery, Lattie’s Brook on Friday, August 28, at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend. Following the service, those who wish are invited to gather at Ettinger Funeral Home in Shubenacadie.
