Elva Marie Hill “Ramsey”

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Elva Marie Hill “Ramsey,” age 86, of West St. Andrews, who passed away peacefully, with her loving family beside her, on August 16, 2026.

Elva was born and raised in West St. Andrews, Stewiacke, where she made her home and built a lifetime of memories surrounded by family and the community she loved.

Elva worked at Stanfield’s Ltd. for 28 years, where she formed many lasting friendships and took great pride in her work.

She found happiness in the simple things in life. She loved spending time at the family cottage, especially working in her gardens and watching everything grow. She enjoyed her soap operas and could often be found doing word searches. Above all, family was at the heart of her life, and she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Elva will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cindy (David) Holder, Brenda (Paul) Hunt, and Tracy (Kevin) McMichael; her sister, Leah; grandchildren Jennifer, Brandon, Connor, Cory, Emily, Mike, Tim, and Chelsey; great-grandchildren, Declan, Jace, Lily, Reese, Haisley Elva, Adelyn, Everleigh, and Rohan; step-great-grandchildren Peyton, Aiden, and Raina; daughter-in-law Kim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Elroy; her son, Gordon; grandson, Darren Holder; her parents, Norma and Russell Ramsey; sister, Velma Hines; and brother, Robert “Bob” Ramsey.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we will forever cherish the memories she gave us and the love she shared with her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and memory will live on in the many lives she touched.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. A visitation will be held Sunday August 23, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Ettinger Shubenacadie location and a funeral service is to be held Monday August 24, at 3:00pm; officiated by Rev. Larry Harrison which will also be held at Ettinger Funeral Home Shubenacadie. A burial is to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery and a reception at West Saint Andrews Community Hall.
