It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Shane Sheldon Boutilier, age 50, of MacPhee’s Corner, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre on August 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Truro and raised in Belnan, Shane was the beloved son of Kenny and Helen (Preeper) Boutilier.

Shane is survived by the love of his life, Vicky Hilton; his cherished children, Cole, Jacob, and Josie; his parents, Kenny and Helen Boutilier; his sisters, Corrina (Greg) Lively, Connie (Billy), and Charlene (Brian); his brothers-in-law, Keith (Kim) Hilton and Kevin Hinch; his mother-in-law, Irene Hilton; his nieces and nephews, Hannah (Jamie), Haley, Neisha, Dakota, Braden, Noah, and Conner and great nieces Nora and Rosie; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Sidney and Minnie Preeper; his paternal grandparents, Alonzo Boutilier, Ruby (Boutilier) Garrison and Roblin “Bob” Garrison and his father-in-law, Michael Hilton.

Shane will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious sense of humour, and his ability to make anyone laugh. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his laughter was contagious. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, coworkers, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A proud electrician, Shane was a former member of IBEW Local 625 before spending the last 11 years with the Halifax International Airport Authority, where he truly loved his work. At work, Shane was known for his sense of humour and enjoyed the friendships he built with his coworkers. He took particular pride in the workplace’s unofficial “Best Lunch” competition, often earning the “Best Lunch” ribbon thanks to the lunches Vicky packed for him each day.

Outside of work, Shane enjoyed working in the yard, listening to his favourite music, and spending time with his family and friends. Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted partner, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre and the QEII Health Sciences Centre for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Shane and his family.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held 2-5pm Thursday, August 13th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
