MALKO, Linda Germaine Auger– age 75, of Coldstream, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 25th, 2026, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Drummondville, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Georgette (Precourt) Auger.

Linda spent her formative years in Newport, Vermont, moving back to Quebec (Sherbrooke and then Montreal) to become a certified x-ray technician. Linda then met and married her best friend, Randy, with whom she loved to laugh. She became a devoted and loving mother; her two daughters were her pride and joy. She and Randy moved their family to Nova Scotia in 1996 where she first worked as a lunch monitor at her kids’ school. She then entered her second career as a mail carrier with Canada Post, which brought her great fulfillment.

Linda enjoyed people, having the ability to talk with anyone about anything, making a long-lasting impression. She loved a good party, and in her younger years frequently travelled, including to Harley Rendezvous, with friends. She had a strong sense of purpose and knew what mattered most to her.  Her passions included reading, crossword puzzles, and watching basketball and golf. She was well known for her knitting and crocheting skills, gifting her creations to family and friends, and joining the crochet club.  Linda's greatest joy in her later years was her grandchildren,  sharing stories of their antics with any available ear, and celebrating their successes.

Linda is survived by her husband, Randy; daughters, Mindy (Neal) Benvie and Carol Malko (Mike); grandchildren, Elsie, Edward, Emmie, Theodore and Lydia; brother, Mike (Heather). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff of CEHHC, especially the Palliative Care Unit for their great care and support in Linda’s last days.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes Shubenacadie and Elmsdale.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie.

Donations in memory of Linda can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
