Glenice Grace Brathwaite Obituary
BRAITHWAITE, Glenice Grace – age 78, of Mattatall Lake, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in East Gore, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Esther Grant.
Glenice studied physical education at UNB (Fredericton) where she met the love of her life, Glen. The two married and moved to Barbados, where she taught for a bit. They then returned to Canada to start their family. Glenice at heart was a horsewoman; she converted the family farm into a successful boarding facility. Her true passion was breeding Arabian horses, which she enjoyed seeing those horses be shown by her husband and daughter, Terri. Later in life she loved to watch the progress of her granddaughter Isabelle with her horse, Gracie. She also found joy in spoiling her cat, Dickins.
Glenice is survived by her husband, Glen; her children, Terri (Archie) and Sean; grandchildren, Tejay, Isabelle, Willem and Olivia; former daughter-in-law, Angela; and her dear friends, Sylvia Shaw and Barb Beal.
She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Esther; her brothers, Richard and Avery; and her sister, Grace.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale.
A committal service will be held in East Gore Cemetery, the time and date will be announced in the near future.
Donations in memory of Glenice can be made to SPCA and Continuing Care Services.
