In Loving Memory of Andrew Matthew Douglas Maloney
April 11, 1985 – May 27, 2026
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Andrew Matthew Douglas Maloney on May 27, 2026, at the age of 41.
Andrew was predeceased by his beloved son, Dominic Upham, on May 14, 2014, and by his grandfather, Gerald “Indian” Maloney Sr. and father, Douglas Bigelow.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife and best friend, Amanda Upham; his mother, Rose Maloney; and his brother, Claude Maloney. He is also survived by many loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, Godparents Carol Busby and Charles Bowers, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
Andrew was a man who embraced life wholeheartedly and brought joy wherever he went. He had a deep love for the outdoors, and fishing was one of his greatest passions. Whether casting a line on a quiet lake or sharing his knowledge with others, he found peace and happiness on the water.
One of Andrew's favorite pastimes was exploring nature with Amanda on photography adventures, capturing the beauty of the world through his lens. He was a gifted artist whose creativity knew no bounds. As a Storyboot Artist for Manitobah Mukluks, Andrew created stunning 3D dreamcatchers that reflected both his remarkable talent and attention to detail. He also enjoyed painting and drawing and seemed to excel at nearly everything he set his mind to.
Athletic and determined, Andrew was a talented hockey player and highly skilled in martial arts. Yet it was his gentle heart and caring nature that truly defined him. He had a special way of connecting with children and formed meaningful bonds with many of the children in the lives of his family and friends. Whether teaching them how to fish, play ball, or become "ninjas," Andrew shared his passions with patience, enthusiasm, and love.
Andrew's compassion extended to his beloved pets as well. He deeply loved his huskies, Meyham and Link, as well as his cats, who were cherished members of his family.
Those who knew Andrew will remember his infectious smile, his creativity, his sense of adventure, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. He made a lasting impact on countless lives and will be remembered for the love he gave so freely and the memories he helped create.
Though his time with us was far too short, the love, laughter, and inspiration Andrew shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
The wake will be held Thursday, June 4th at the Cultural Cabins starting at 3pm at 12 Mawio’mi Lane in Indian Brook until the service at Saint Kateri Church at 10 am Saturday, June 6th. Meal to follow at the community hall. Cremation to take place after the service.
