Katherine Ann Paxton Obituary
Paxton, Katherine Ann, 79 of Wittenburg, Nova Scotia, passed away May 25, 2026 at Elk Court, Brookfield, Nova Scotia with family by her side. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Janosik) Lukacsy.
Kathy grew up in New Jersey. She was a cheerleader and graduated from Hasbrouck Height High School in 1964 . She moved to England to attend London College where she studied art. She worked for the Bank of America in London before working for Air Canada where she first met her husband Bruce. They were married in England on September 21, 1974 and Kathy joined Bruce in Nova Scotia after the wedding. They first lived in Enfield before settling permanently in Wittenburg.
Kathy had a smile that would light up a room. She was generous with her time and energy. She was the treasurer at Mount Traber Bible Camp for years, she lent her alto voice to the choir at Wittenburg Baptist Church and even was a volunteer with Block Parents. She was always a creative person. She helped design and sew her own wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses. She sewed stuffed animals and stockings for her children, crocheted ornaments and sewed items for her friend Pam’s shop.
Kathy was dedicated to her family. She only went back to work full time once her youngest entered junior high, choosing to work night shifts until they graduated so she would be there when they returned from school and she could attend most of their activities. She worked at Tim Hortons in Stewiacke until she was 70 so that she would be the first person to work there for 20 years. She was a hard worker and was liked by both co-workers and clientele. Kathy was a soccer mom not only to her own children but to those of their friends. The red van she and her husband Bruce drove was nicknamed the “Paxton Mobile” as it was full to the brim with her children and their friends going to practices, games and tournaments. Kathy would travel to see her children in the different places they settled and also travelled with her daughter Julie to watch concerts and tennis tournaments, visiting close by cities/countries.
Kathy is survived by her husband Bruce Paxton of Wittenburg, Nova Scotia , daughter Evelyn Paxton (Stephen) of Longview, Washington, son Richard Paxton (Cristina) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, son David Paxton of Truro, Nova Scotia, daughter Julie Paxton of Wittenburg, Nova Scotia, grandsons Aden, Isaiah and Luke, and sister Margaret Davidson of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary and her son John.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. A service for Kathy will take place at Wittenburg Baptist Church on Saturday, June 6, 2026 officiated by Pastor Jonathan Cann, with visitation starting at 1 pm and service starting at 2 pm with light refreshments to follow.
