Lois Claire (Hennigar) Nickerson passed peacefully on May 21, 2026, in Truro, NS at the age of 84. She was born on June 9th, 1941, in Five Mile River, Nova Scotia to Nelson and Joyce (Cook) Hennigar. She attended the Halifax School for the Deaf from 1948 - 1958 where she made many friends including her special friends Nancy Hopkins and Joan Drysdale. She then attended Hants North Rural High for 2 years before moving back to Halifax to work for Maritime Photo Lab where she met her husband Lloyd Nickerson whom she married at the age of 22 in 1963.

They moved to Forbes Point where they raised her three surviving children, Carol Nickerson, Yarmouth, Allan Nickerson, Windsor Ontario, and Stephen Nickerson, Shelburne.  She is also survived by her brother, Leroy Hennigar and wife Carol, sister, Oneta Hennigar and spouse, Terry Crawley and many extended family members.  After divorcing in 1993 she moved to Truro and then to Stewiacke where she resided until entering the Vimy Court rest home in Truro.

In her younger years she enjoyed figure skating, dancing and travelling; making friends wherever she went. Later in life she enjoyed passing time by reading and doing puzzle books, always looking in the back for the answers.  She loved looking out the window and admiring the gardens and watching the birds, the blue jays and deer were her favorites.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Vimy Court in Bible Hill NS, where Lois resided for the past two years and to Colchester East Hants Emergency and Palliative Care 3rd floor staff for all the care and consideration offered to Lois throughout her stay.

She is resting at Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie NS, where the Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday May 24th, 2026, with burial following at St. Peters Anglican Church in Upper Kennetcook, NS.
