URQUHART (MACRAE), Catherine Anne – age 72, of Fletchers Lake, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2026, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary, following a battle with Pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Belnan she was a daughter of the late John and Myfanwy (Paynter) MacRae.

Catherine, lovingly known as Cathy, began her education in the one room Belnan schoolhouse from which she later attended Mount Saint Vincent University acquiring a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. Cathy was very personable, thoughtful and kind to all who met her. Her work life spanned many successful years in the prepress business but always found the time to offer her service to charity work in support of cancer research. She embraced travel both near and far which led her to appreciate the beauty of nature especially when visiting botanical gardens. Her love of flowering plants offered her many joyful hours spent in her beloved private gardens.

Her generous spirit, her uplifting joy and laughter will be sorely missed, and our lives are poorer as a result of our loss!

Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Lorne; children, Roxanne (Tony) Versace of Toronto, Troy (Cheryl) Belisle of Barrington, Angela (David) Lovitt of Victoria; granddaughter, Sarah Corbani; great granddaughter, Stassiana Corbani and great grandson, Lucciano Corbani of Toronto; brothers, David (Joan) MacRae, Bruce (Eileen) MacRae; sister, Marion (George) Harrop; nieces, Catherine (Robert Dijk of the Netherlands) Harrop and Victoria Harrop of Ottawa.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Cathy can be made to Hope for Wildlife, Seaforth, Nova Scotia.
