Marion Jean Picard, born Marion Jean Howard, on April 23rd, 1938, in Sudbury, Ontario, passed away peacefully in the very early hours on April 10th, 2026, at Cumberland Regional Hospital, at the age of 87.

Marion married Stanley Oscar Picard in Copper Cliff in 1957, and together they built a fulfilling life raising their four children. Stanley preceded her in death in 1999, after more than four decades of marriage. From 1969 to 2002, she lived in her marital home in Levack, Ontario. She then lived between her daughter Kelly’s home in Ontario and her son Russell’s home in Nova Scotia until 2023, when she moved to Centennial Villa in Amherst for her final 3 years, where she made new friends and enjoyed the professional care she needed.

Marion was a devoted mother and a steadfast wife. She had a fondness for sweets, a good word search and the Sunday breakfast outings she shared with her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine (Morrison Howard (1963); her sister, Doris Bloom (1980); her father, Elmer Howard (1984); and her brother, Borden Howard (2001).

Marion’s memory will be lovingly carried by her four children, Russell Picard of Nova Scotia, Paulette (Picard) Newman of New Brunswick, Kelly Picard Jolicoeur of Mississauga, Ontario, and Thomas Picard of Mississauga, Ontario. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale.
