Marjorie Ethel Isenor Obituary
Marjorie Ethel (Ruggles) Isenor
Mom finished her long goodbye on April 1st 2026, age 83, at the Magnolia Continuing Care Centre in Enfield.
Mom was born in Middle Musquodoboit and lived most of her married life in Dutch Settlement. In retirement, Mom and Dad spent many wonderful years at the cottage on Shaw’s Lake, then Truro and finally Enfield.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Karl; their grandson Noah Isenor; brothers, Donald Ruggles, Ronald Ruggles, sister Jeannie Hines, her parents Charlie and Ida Ruggles, in-laws Alexander and Pearl Isenor, sisters in-law, Francis Isenor, Narda Isenor and brother in-law Foster Hines.
She is survived by her daughter Darlene (Wally) Ashley, son Dwayne (Joe Plante) Isenor, grand children Amy (Andre) Boutilier, Bradley (Mellisa) Ashley and great grand daughter Adelaide Boutilier; sister Betty(John) Gladwin and in-laws Sharron Ruggles, Ron Lowe and Marion Ruggles, Leroy (Audrey) Isenor, Kay (Lester) Parker, Colin (Susan) Isenor, Bruce (Mildred) Isenor, Heather (Bill) Smith, Mark (Barb) Isenor, Garth Isenor and many special nieces and nephews.
Mom wore many hats during her life, her most special ones were daughter, sister, mother, grand mother and great grand mother. She also found time to be the Avon lady, working for Sears Canada in Halifax, night custodian at the Dutch Settlement School, rural route mail delivery with her daughter Darlene and still found time to help Dad at the family owned service station. Mom did not stop! She was a fantastic cook, baker, family dinners are the basis of some of our most treasured memories. She loved to clean, and would empty a room just to make sure it was complete. Mom and Dad also loved to dance, they could glide across the dance floor or stomp out a hot polka. Mom always had time to help with anything we needed, and was the number one babysitter. All her grandchildren had incurable nannie-itice! She always helped pick us up when we fell down, even when we got older. She was the best mom any child, grandchild and great grandchild could ever want.
Dementia took mom’s memory little by little but never took her love for her family, that was part of her soul. In her last days her strength and will to live was humbling.
We would like to thank the staff of the Magnolia for their exceptional care and patience over the last 3 years. A special thank you to her walking buddy and Magnolia sister, Pauline for making her days happy and enjoyable until the end.
Cremation has taken place, a grave side service will be held inside the St. George’s Anglican Church, Dutch Settlement, at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 7. Internment of Mom and Dad’s ashes will take place following the service at the Columbarium at St. George’s. A reception will be held following in the Church basement.
