Eva Maude van de Riet

October 15, 1956 – March 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Maude van de Riet, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on March 27, 2026, at the age of 69, following a brief but courageous battle with kidney cancer. Eva's indomitable spirit and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Born on October 15, 1956, at Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, Eva was the cherished daughter of Ralph and Lois Spares. She grew up alongside her siblings Ann, Eileen, Kathy, and Gordon, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. Although her father Ralph and sister Kathy have since passed, their memories lived on in Eva's heart.

Eva's life was one of devotion and love. She married Jack her high school sweetheart and partner of nearly 50 years. She always called Jack her best friend, and together they created a beautiful family together. Her love for her husband was unparalleled, a testament to a marriage filled with mutual respect and unwavering support. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Michael (Brooke Darling) and Matthew, who were her pride and joy. Eva's nurturing spirit and wise counsel will continue to guide them through life's challenges and triumphs. As a grandmother, Eva found immense joy in her role as Grammy, cherishing every moment spent with her granddaughter, Ella.

 Eva's life will be celebrated on April 2, 2026, at Ettinger's Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life starting at 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Eva are invited to gather in her memory, to share stories and remember her remarkable life.
