BERIAU, Eric J.P – age 77, of Shubenacadie, passed away at home with his wife by his side. Born in Quebec City, he was a son of the late Antoine and Jacqueline (Collin) Beriau.

Eric devoted 25 years to the Air Force, where he served as a dedicated sergeant. His work involved maintaining aircraft and serving as a member of the bomb squad, specializing in bomb assembly. Later, he became an instructor, sharing his extensive expertise and experience with others.

Throughout his life, Eric lived in various communities across Canada. He was actively involved with the local fire department wherever he resided. After settling in Shubenacadie, he served with the fire department for 10 years, earning a reputation as a well-known and respected member of the community.

Eric enjoyed woodworking and making clocks which he gifted to others. He loved tinkering with vehicles and had a passion for watching anything related to the moon and space. His greatest enthusiasm was reading mystery novels.

Faith was at the heart of Eric’s life, a value he shared deeply with his wife, Patricia. He was a cherished member of his church community. Eric's love for music and dance brought joy and energy to those around him, and he had a special talent for uplifting others. Together, Eric and Patricia welcomed those in need of parental or grandparental support, wholeheartedly embracing these roles and offering love, guidance, and belonging to many. Through his kindness, faith, and vibrant personality, Eric touched countless lives within both the church and the wider community.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Patricia; children David, Selina, Gerald, Tonya (Matthew); grandchildren, Paige, Ashliee, Zack, Michael, Keira, Brailynn, Maddelynn and Hannah; sister, Anne Hayes Beriau; sister in-law, Francine Beriau (Richard)

He was predeceased by brothers, Frank and Richard

Visitation will be held 6-7pm Monday, March 30th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie from where a funeral service will be held at 2pm Tuesday, March 31st. We encourage those wishing to successfully view the service to pre-register for it ahead of the service date.  

A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Spring burial to be held at a later date.
