Donna Marie Francis

October 29th 1952 to January 31st 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our sister and beloved aunt; Donna Marie Francis on January 31st, 2026, at the age of 73.

Donna was born in North Sydney, Cape Breton, on October 29th, 1952. She relocated to Halifax to attend Dalhousie University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After her graduation Donna remained in Halifax where she enjoyed a 29-year career employed with Air Canada. She would eventually relocate to Elmsdale to be closer to her work.

In her younger years Donna loved to travel, creating lasting memories and enjoyed sharing her adventures, she had a love of gardening, cooking and playing cards. Donna was a past volunteer, chaperone and fundraiser with Air Canada’s Dreams take Flight.

Donna is survived by sisters, Elaine (Michael) Wilkie, Heather (Ron) Albert and brother, Paul (Patricia) Francis.

She was a very proud aunt to Erin, Sarah, Brian, Jordan, Colin and Alex; a great aunt to Jonah, Lilian, Max, Kay and Amelia.

She was predeceased by her brother Melvin and Parents, George and Mamie Francis, born in Stones Cove Nfld. Donna was proud of her parents Newfoundland roots and cherished her childhood memories of their times visiting Newfoundland. As an adult, Newfoundland held a special place in her heart and she enjoyed her visits there with her relatives.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale.

There will be a memorial service held on Tuesday Feb 10th at 2:00 pm at the Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. A private burial service to take place at a later date in Cape Breton.
