WYER, Walter Edward “Bob”, age 74, of Milford, passed away Thursday January 8, 2026, with family at his side, in the Victoria General Hospital, in Halifax.
Born at home in Colchester County, he was a son of the late Robert and Muriel “Minnie” (McKenna) Wyer.
Bob was a strong, hardworking, loyal, and generous man—well known for his determination and, yes, his legendary stubbornness. Those who knew him best understood that his stubborn streak was simply part of the strength that defined him. He loved to laugh and took great joy in tormenting those around him. If he gave you a hard time, it meant you mattered to him.
Throughout his life, he left a lasting impact on every circle he was part of, giving generously of his time and energy. He held a deep commitment to Nova Sporting Clays, was a proud member of the original Lions Club, served as Fire Chief for the Milford Fire Department, and was also a member of the Pheasant Preserve. His dedication to service and fellowship left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside him.
He spent years working for NS Sand and Gravel and Caterpillar before retiring in 2005 after a long career with Rowan Drilling. His time with Rowan was especially meaningful to him, sparking a lifelong love for the company. Following an accident that led to his early retirement, his family was blessed with an unexpected gift: 24 more years together. Those years were treasured beyond measure, and his loved ones remain profoundly grateful for the extra time they were given.
Above all else, he was devoted to his family. He was a dedicated brother, a loving husband, a proud father, and a cherished grandfather. He will be remembered for his strength, his service, his humor, and the enduring love he had for his family, friends, and community.Top of FormBottom of Form
