Obituary of Gordon Douglas Dixon
Gordon Douglas Dixon, age 89, of Shubenacadie
Born May 24, 1936; passed December 26, 2025, surrounded by family.
Dad and his mother Ada had the same birthdate, which Dad took great pride in celebrating with his Mother and family over the last 89 years. Gordon worked at Nova Scotia Sand & Gravel and Shaw Resources for 35 years. Dad was very pleased to retire at age 60 years, enjoying spending time at Noel Shore, camping with all the grandchildren.
The family appreciate and are thankful and grateful for the caring and professional support from the palliative care staff on 3rd Floor East for the last month of Dad’s life.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Joan (Grant); sons, Don (Claudette), Bill (Yvonne); daughter, Cathy (Manny); grandchildren, Anna, Caitlyn, Greg, Grant, Chelsey, Graham and Cody; nine great grandchildren; brother, Clinton (Audrey) Dixon; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gordon was predeceased by his mother, Ada (Clark) Dixon, father, Oliver Dixon; brothers, Lester, Wayne, Earl and Melvin.
The family are thankful for the support of Ettinger’s Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, where the funeral will be held 1:30PM, Friday, January 2, 2026, Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating. A private family committal service will be held at East Gore Cemetery in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shubenacadie United Church, the Kidney Foundation or a charity of choice.
