Lauretta Dawn Bingley Obituary

BINGLEY, Lauretta Dawn  -September 23, 1966 – December 13, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lauretta Dawn Bingley announce her sudden passing, peacefully at her home in Lantz, Nova Scotia.

Born in Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, to Alfreda and Terry Sangster, Lauretta was a light in every room she entered — full of fire, wit, and warmth. Her radiant smile, gentle heart, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Lauretta is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Francis Bingley; her cherished daughters, Kellie (Geoff) Bingley of Penticton, BC, and Daphne Bingley of Victoria, BC; her loving parents, Alfreda and Terry Sangster of Lantz, NS; and her mother-in-law, Bernice Pye of Lantz, NS. She will be deeply missed by her sisters, Crystal (Andy) Taylor of Lantz, NS, and Ronda (Alfie) Jenkins of Grande Prairie, AB, as well as her many nieces, nephews; thirteen great-nieces and nephews. Retta to many and Grandma Bing to Maddy and Izzy all of whom will forever carry her love in their hearts.

Lauretta was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Bethany Bingley; sister, Eleanor Mahar; brother, Scotty Sangster; nephew, Jacob; and great-nephew, Parker. The family takes comfort in knowing that they are now reunited in the gates of heaven.

A proud and devoted mother, Lauretta found her greatest joy in watching her daughters thrive — from Daphne’s accomplishments as a culinary graduate to Kellie’s success as a passionate entrepreneur. She celebrated every milestone, and her spirit will continue to cheer them on in all they do.

Lauretta and Francis made their home in Grande Prairie, Alberta, for more than 20 years, where she built lasting friendships and countless memories, especially alongside her “baby sister” Ronda. In 2018, Lauretta and Francis returned to Nova Scotia, where she embraced a quieter life — filled with beach days with Crystal, lively game nights with her parents, and endless baking sessions with Bernice.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. A Celebration of Lauretta’s Life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, December 18, at Corridor Community Church, 980 Hwy 2, Lantz.
