Vera Gertrude Tattrie Obituary

Vera Gertrude (Fleck) Tattrie, 84, of Porter’s Lake, was sent to her eternal home on December 8th, 2025.  Born in South Branch, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Gertrude (Levy) Fleck. 


Vera spent her life married to the love of her life, Sterling, and their bond will be forever cherished.  They lived their lives together in Fletcher’s Lake, South Branch, and Porters Lake.  Vera was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, a wonderful sense of humor, and an unwavering faith in God.

 


Vera’s fondest memories were with her children, especially during their summers in Half Island Cove. The other great loves of Vera’s life were her pets, especially her cats. Taking in any cats that needed a home. She also loved crafting with her friends and sharing her projects with those she cared for. Vera was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as numerous other volunteer groups, she loved sharing her time having fun with the ladies of her community. She had a passion for travel and explored the world both on her own and with her soulmate Sterling.


Vera is survived by her husband Sterling Tattrie; her daughters Tanya Tattrie (Mark); Shiann Barkhouse (Gus); Amberlie Tattrie; special grandson Daniel Tattrie (Tracy); granddaughters Amanda, Samantha, Courtney (Holden), Katie, and Claudia; grandsons Alexander and Nicholas; and great-grandsons Tanner and Reid, along with soon to be born great grandson; sisters Janet Jones and Elsie Whyte (Peter) and Brothers Saul (Barb) Fleck and Sandy Fleck. 


Vera is predeceased by her son Alexander (Sandy) Tattrie; and sons-in-law James Barkhouse (Shiann) and Douglas Leck (Amberlie); brother Lloyd Fleck and sister Charlene Dash;


The funeral will take place 1PM Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Ettinger’s Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.  Reception to follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Spring interment will be held at South Branch Cemetery.
