Annie Winifred "Winnie" Allum Obituary

ALLUM, Annie Winifred “Winnie” – age 99, just sixteen days shy of celebrating her 100th birthday, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, at the Magnolia Continuing Care Facility, Enfield. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Forbes) Harvie. Although she narrowly missed the milestone, she filled nearly a century with kindness, humour, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her community.

While Winnie was a long time resident of Elmsdale, she also resided in Moncton, NB and Yarmouth, NS.

Winnie lived a life rooted in service, fellowship, and connection. She was a proud and active member of the Eastern Star for over 75 years, embodying its values with grace and dedication. Her involvement brought her lifelong friendships and a sense of purpose she carried with her always.

A vibrant spirit, Winnie was also a cherished member of the Red Hat Society, where she embraced fun, friendship, and the importance of celebrating every stage of life with style and laughter. Whether she was attending gatherings, helping organize community events, or simply sharing a story and a smile, she had a special way of making others feel welcomed and valued.

Her faith was a guiding light. As a devoted supporter of the United Church, she participated in church life for decades, offering her time, compassion, and steady presence to the congregation she loved.

Above all, Winnie will be remembered for her generosity, her sharp wit, and the deep love she held for her family and friends. Her legacy is one of service, joy, and an enduring belief in the goodness of community.

She is survived by daughter Glennie-Ruth (John Graves) Allum, Ontario; sons Curtiss (Karen) Allum, PEI; and Byron Allum, Elmsdale; Grandchildren Brittany (Shane) Sutherland, Onslow Mountain; Breeanna Allum (Sean O’Toole) Carrolls Corner; Morgan Allum (Ned Burns), Belnan; Brodie Allum, British Columbia; 5 great-grandchildren and siblings Virgil, Leola and Wayne, who will forever cherish her memory and the lessons she imparted simply by the way she lived her life.

Besides her parents, Winnie was predeceased by her husband, Charles Sidney Allum; daughter in law Caye Harris-Allum and siblings Roy and Pearl.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes, Shubenacadie and Elmsdale.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at the Magnolia in Enfield for all of your care and support.
