Obituary of Troy Donald Preiss

PREISS, Troy Donald - age 53, of Shubenacadie, passed away on November 23rd, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness.

Troy was born on October 28th, 1972. If he wasn’t spending time with his loved ones, he could be found immersed in music listening, talking, playing, or enjoying concerts and festivals. He loved shooting 8-ball, playing chess, darts, horseshoes, and poker, reading books, taking road trips to the beach, singing karaoke or along with the radio, riding the tallest waterslides and roller coasters, and creating art through his life’s work in tile as well as building guitars by hand. Troy enjoyed every moment the outdoors had to offer, whether at the beach or lake, fishing, camping, swimming, or stargazing. A true jack-of-all-trades, he was always fixing something or willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed him. He also mastered the art of gluten-free cooking and baking, and the Blackstone and BBQ were always in good hands.

Troy is survived by his beloved wife, Claudia Preiss; his children, Laura Preiss and Troy “TJ” Preiss; his mother, Shelia Preiss; his father, Donald Preiss (Maggie); his birth mother, Shelly Mestre; and his in-laws, Laura and Scott Williams. He also leaves behind his siblings, Cathy Preiss (Jason), Paul Preiss, and Melissa Mestre; nieces and nephews, Gavin Preiss, Eric Preiss, Micheala Jodrey, Jasmine Williams, Cameron Colborne, and Hayden Preiss; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his late brother, Michael Preiss; sister-in-law, Veronica Williams; special friend, Chris Moore; his birth father, Louie Lloyd, and his grandparents.

Troy’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Enfield Legion on Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at 6:00 PM. All are welcome to join his family in honoring his memory. Guests who would like to bring a musical instrument are invited to share music beginning at 7:00 PM.

The family would like to thank the palliative care unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their care.
