Obituary of Joyce McFadden

Eileen “Joyce” Vivian McFadden

August 5, 1940  -  Oct 30, 2025

Joyce passed away peacefully at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, in the early morning of October 30, 2025.  Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Ulric and Dora (Peverley) MacDonald.

Throughout her life, Joyce has worked for the RCAF, Saskatchewan Health, Maritime Tel & Tel, and as a caregiver for her mother Dora. She graduated in 1985 from Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.

Joyce was the loving wife of 62 years to Albert “Al” McFadden. Mother of Tony (Linda), Kay Greene (Jim), Gordon (Eva), and Douglas. She was loved by, and very proud of her 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings, Dora Alice, Vivian (Bill), Ricky, Thompson (Jean), Mary Faith and Reina. 

Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her sister, Vera Pickering. 

Cremation has taken place.  A funeral service will be held 2PM Tuesday, November 4, 2025 in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, Deacon Dan Bowden officiating. Private family committal service to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joyce's name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
