Jawashkwabono'kwe Howe Obituary

HOWE, Jawashkwabono’kwe “Diindiisi-ikwe”, of the Bear Clan, age 45, of Indian Brook, passed away on October 15, 2025, after a courageous and hard-fought 3-year battle with cancer.  Born in Toronto, Ontario, she was a daughter of Carol Howe, Indian Brook and Brian Paul, Sioux Narrows, Ontario

She was a loving mother, always putting her children first.  She lived for them; they were her heart and soul.  Family get-togethers were joyous times for her, and she also looked forward to family outings and taking her children to pow-wows.  She crafted beautiful regalia’s for her children and took pride in creating intricate beadwork items for family and friends.  She loved music, shopping and travelling.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her partner, Darrell Augustine; children, Mackalen, Caro and Fiercen White; Angeliah, Arellaina and Darrell Augustine; siblings, Eli Paul (Vanessa); Jesse Paul (Meagan); Soul sister, Nikki Copenace and Best friend, Shannon Sack; godmother, Wendy Julian; godchildren, Santiana Howe; Kierra Sack; Mukwa Howe and Kohen Brooks; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Azheline Howe; brothers, Brian “BJ” Paul and Josiah Howe.

Visitation will begin on Friday afternoon at her mother’s residence, 560 Church Street, Indian Brook with a traditional ceremony at sundown (6pm).  Visitation will be held again on Saturday, with a traditional final instructions ceremony to be held at sundown Saturday evening (6pm).  A burial will be held at 11:30 AM Sunday, October 19 at St. Catherine’s Community Cemetery, Indian Brook.    All traditional ceremonies will be led by Michael Nadjiwon, whom the family wishes to thank for his kindness and support at this difficult time.  A meal for family and friends will be held at the Sipekne’katik Community Centre, following the burial ceremony.
