Wade Benjamin Lake Obituary

LAKE, Wade Benjamin – It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Wade Benjamin Lake, age 69, of Lantz, Nova Scotia, on September 12th, 2025 while vacationing in Newfoundland for his annual Moose Hunting trip.

Wade was born on July 31st 1956 in Walton, Nova Scotia to the late Edwin “Ted” and Pearle Lake. Wade devoted 50 years to Moore & Cormier as a foundation labourer. He was known to be a hard worker, a proud father and even prouder Grampy. He was a proud member and volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 48, Elmsdale where he was known to be the life of the party with the loudest laugh and the best crib hand.

Wade was always on the go, if he wasn’t holding a panel, he could be found with either a fishing pole or his hunting rifle in hand. A genuine outdoorsman at heart, hunting and fishing was a huge part of his life.  He looked forward to his yearly excursions and the connections he made along the way.

Everyone that knew him considered him family and he thought the same of them. He will always be known as “Brother Wade” to many. He could often be found with his best friend, Donnie either sitting in the garage or in the woods on their bikes.  He also took every opportunity he could to boast about his children and grandchildren.

Left to mourn him are his partner of 13 years, Ann Creamer; his children, Nicole (Dean) and Nathan; their mother, Doreen Mason and his grandchildren, his pride and joy, Michael, Mason and Nico.

Wade also leaves behind sisters, Shirley of Calgary and Connie (Harry) of Bible Hill, brothers Danny (Sherry) and Jimmy of Calgary, Kenny (Loretta) of Ontario and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Wade had countless best friends and will be deeply missed by all of them.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Linda O’Hearn .

Wade’s family would like to thank Gary James and Fewer’s Funeral Home in NFLD for the assistance in having him sent home and to Ettinger Funeral Home for their services.

Cremation has taken place and a party to honour him will be held from 2-7pm Saturday, September 20th at the Elmsdale Legion Branch 48, 850 Highway 2, Elmsdale.

In lieu of flowers, Wade would love for donations to be made to Summer Camps Unplugged where all 3 of his grandchildren attend summer camp or to any charity of your choice.

Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Wade can be shared with the family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
