Obituary of Wayne Gordon Cross

CROSS, WAYNE GORDON - age 41, of Nine Mile River, Nova Scotia, passed away suddenly in Edmonton, Alberta, on September 5th, 2025.

Wayne obtained his Red Seal in Iron working belonging to the Ironworkers Union Local 720 at the time of his death. He took great pride being an iron worker and was so proud of each and every job that he did that took him to the diamond mines and many other places in Canada where he would be "in heaven" amongst all that iron and hard at work for many days and sometimes months with his coworkers.

Wayne lived most of his days like they were his last, full throttle and bustling with energy. You couldn't help but feel his excitement when he shared his adventures from driving fast cars, diving off Drysdale Falls or loving anything and everyone he set his sights on such boxing or fishing, and especially his next bottle of Pepsi! He loved his aunts little dog Oscar, and he loved the gym, working on his physique "for the ladies". He would make friends wherever he went as that energy was so contagious. He was the life of the party, and his stories would make you raise your eyebrows and laugh like crazy at his antics. His love of his family is what centered him.  He would head home to regroup and catch up on the love that they shared. Life with Wayne wasn't always easy, but if you were in his circle, he loved you with all that he was.

Wayne had a heart as big as Nova Scotia. He would help a buddy or a neighbor anytime they needed a hand whether he had just met you or you were long-time friends. One of these recent times was with his Uncle Junior whom he helped immensely. He supported the family by being a pillar of strength and literally lifting him in and out of his hospital bed.

Wayne was the cherished son of Debbie and Bruce Cross. Wayne's pride and joy was his daughter, Faith Ridgeley of Newfoundland; his two boys, Cayden and Ben Cross (at home). He is also survived by their mother, his former spouse and "the true love of my life”, Lisa Cross; he was a big brother to Hollie (Marty) Mcbride and Sarah Cross; uncle to Marcus, James, Isla and Morgan; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and many, many friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, James and Barbara Hamilton, and paternal grandparents, Fred and Florence Cross.

Anyone that knew Wayne, knew how much he loved his children. It is because of this that we, the family, ask that in lieu of flowers a donation could be made to build an education trust for his sons Cayden and Ben. Donations may be made via e transfer debbie_cross73@hotmail.com    or at any Royal Bank branch in Canada under the name " Wayne's Trust for Cayden and Ben."

Wayne worked hard, played hard and lived hard, staying and pushing limits on absolutely everything until he would say

"Shut 'er down".
