Donald John MacNeill

Donald John MacNeill passed away suddenly on June 26, 2025, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of 66. Born in Halifax on May 1, 1959, he was the son of the late Phyllis MacNeill (Mulhall) and Donald John MacNeill Sr.

He is survived by his children; Chrisanne Delano (Gordon) of Truro; Laura MacNeill of Halifax; and Ryan MacNeill (Alex Knoll) of Toronto, as well as grandchildren; Nyomi, Lillyanne, Easton, Sydney, Carson, Charlie, and a new grandchild expected in November 2025. Don is also survived by his brothers; Jim (Cricket), John (Anne), David, and Sandy; his former wife, Jennifer MacNeill, and longtime partner Bernadette Bagnell.

Don had a lifelong passion for cars and worked in various roles at automotive dealerships throughout his life. His natural ability to connect with people made him well-suited to the business—he could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and enjoyed sharing a good joke.

He spent his earlier years water skiing, snowmobiling, ATV riding, and enjoying time at the family cottage in Malagash, Nova Scotia.

Despite ongoing health issues for a number of years, Don still appreciated the simple pleasures—like a nice meal—and maintained his sense of humor.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. A formal service will not be held.
