Dear Gloria and family
Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time with the passing of Jimmy. He was obviously well loved with the many wonderful
comments we have read from neighbours and friends. My fondest memories of Jimmy go back to watching him play for St Pats with my brother Lynn in 1964, I believe, when they won the Provincial high school title. It was great hockey and Jimmy was fun to watch.
Our love and deepest sympathy to you and the family

Dear Gloria, Jennifer and Patrick:
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband and father.
Jimmy was a rock, salt of the earth and a pleasure to be around. He was positive and always smiling with that impish grin. So many beautiful memories of our children growing up together, Boxing Day at George and Delores's, neighbourhood barbecues, dances, Halloween, Tingley's parties. The list goes on. He was always a delight. ❤️❤️❤️
With our love and respect.

My first memories of Jimmy are built around a sense of "Jimmy's Camp", a camp I never saw in person but had an awe for and interest in as a place of great beauty and family fun, a sense gained through my mother Eileen's many stories about it. Sean and I always looked forward to seeing Jimmy, whether in Rhode Island, Halifax or PEI, to hear the updates on family in Canada and increasingly the sports and other successes of his grandchildren. We especially loved to hear his stories of salmon fishing in Newfoundland and always enjoyed the great conversation over rum and cokes...and for Sean, a chance to play a round of golf in Rhode Island was a special memory. He will be very missed and fondly remembered by us all. Wishing peace to Gloria, Jennifer and Patrick and all the Coughlan family and friends.
With love, Erin (Farrell), Sean and Nora FItzGerald

Jimmy was a prince among men. It was a privilege to know him and call him a friend. Just knowing he was there if I needed him has been a comfort all these many years.
I have so many memories of Jimmy and Gloria, Jennifer and Patrick. And I shall never forget our blueberry picking escapade especially when he handed me a peach basket to fill!
My heart aches for Gloria, Jennifer and Patrick. Jimmy was "simply the best, better than all the rest".

We have lived next door to Jim and Gloria for 24 years. Jim was a great neighbor. I called him the pheasant whisperer as they would see him coming with food and they would almost go right up to him. I will miss our chats on the deck. Our thoughts are with Gloria and the family during this difficult time. Elizabeth and Andy McClair

I first met Jimmy in 1959 when I came to Halifax to marry his sister, Eileen. Ever since then, Jimmy and Gloria and their children have been part of our family and we of theirs.
Over the years I came to know Jimmy as the kind of person each of us would want to have as a friend. He was a sincere and caring and fun to be with. And if you were lucky enough to play golf or tennis with him, you found out quickly that he was also a tough competitor.
Our family will always be grateful to Jimmy for all the help he gave us when Eileen died eight years ago. He took over all the responsibility for seeing we have a beautiful gravestone when we visit the grave and that gives us peace. It also reminds us of Jimmy's loving and generous heart.
Our deepest sympathy to Gloria and all members of the Coughlan family.
Tom Farrell and all the Farrell family.

I got to know Jim and Gloria through their daughter Jennifer. She was friends with our daughter Vicki and son Ryan. I want to share a memory of a kind and considerate deed of Jim’s. I cannot remember the date, but I do remember Jim repairing the head stones at the grave site in our cemetery at St. Thomas Anglican Church. There had been some vandalism and some headstones were knocked over and some very old headstones were damaged. It was very upsetting. Jim heard about it and volunteered and came on site and did the repair work. We were very grateful. Thank you Jim. You are remembered.
Deepest condolences to you Gloria and the whole family.

Dear Gloria, Jenn, Patrick and families,
We are simply heartbroken for your immense loss - Mr. Coughlan (as he was always fondly known to me growing up) was a huge presence in our lives and will be dearly missed… I think he drove us to school every day in grade 9! And of course the stops at “the shop” on the walks home from school… Sleepovers at your house and times at your camp are fond memories. He loved his family dearly and fiercely…. I will always remember his laugh and big sense of humor, and of course - his kindness. His work on my dad’s headstone and the care he took will not be forgotten. Much love to you all during this difficult time - I hope your loving memories will give you comfort in time. Im so sorry I can not be there with you on the 26th to remember a very special man.
With our heartfelt condolences, Kelly (Blondon), Jean, Owen, Luke and James Genier Xoxo

So many wonderful memories of Jim at the Camp. Whether we were playing baseball in the front yard, swimming in the lake, enjoying one of the many BBQs or sharing stories around a campfire. And of course all of the dogs.
We are so fortunate to have your family in our lives.
Sending our love and extra hugs to all of your family during this difficult time.
