Obituary of Mary Jean Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Mary Jean - age 75 of South Maitland, passed away on May 20^th, 2025, in the QEII V.G. Site, Halifax. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Jean (Shephard) Laffin.

Mary had a passion for anything horses. She spent many hours researching Northern Dancer and his blood line. She loved watching and going to horse races and attending anything horse related. A highlight of her love of racing was when she got to meet Ron Turcott, the jockey of Secretariat. 

Mary is survived by her husband, Charles; her children, Christopher (Kimberly) Mansfield, Kerri (Jared) Mansfield; grandchildren, Cassidy (Mohammad), Zachary (Elizabeth), Jaden, Conner (Taylor), Dominic, Josh, Curt and Heaven; great grandchildren, Dawson and Brinley; sister, Marg O’Brien Laffin; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Sunday May 25^th, 2025, at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Refreshments will be available.
