On behalf of the Executive and Members of the RCL Montgomery Branch #133, Enfield Legion, we are sending sincere condolences to Amanda, Ben, Katie and all the Canning family. John was a mainstay at the ball fields every summer and instrumental in the improvements there over the past several years. We will miss seeing his smiling face around the community!
As Secretary of the branch, I had many conversations with John related to the ball fields and he was always friendly and gracious, even at a time when he was dealing with personal issues. That spoke volumes about the man he was; and the attendance at his Celebration of Life again showed just how well liked and respected he was in our community. He will be missed!
May the love and support of family and friends bring comfort to you all in the sad days ahead.
Take Care,
Michelle White

John you lived large that life it self ! Everyone who knew you knew that well. You always help others out. I definitely have to say I was one of the lucky ones who you help all the way. Starting over 25 years ago when we first met. I had bought flooring from you and we weren't sure how we'd get it in our little car with our daughter who was in a car seat. It would of took a couple trips. You won't have it and said you live out by me and I'll drop it off after work. Well that was the 1st time meeting you and you helping me and my family out . I'll never forget working for you, it was never dull when you were around. Even when I moved on from Happy's you were there for me and family especial when we lost Cienna and I said we'd be ok . You knew we wouldn't and help us any way, thanks John.
You will be missed by so many people and I will be one of them ! I'm just glad I got to see you a few days before you left us. I'm so glad you were in my life...

I have had the pleasure of knowing John and doing business together for the better part of 10 yrs. I will never forget when he took me out to show me his boat and we ran out of gas on the lake. One I always had up on him. He always had a story or comment that left both of us laughing. He was not one to shy away from a great conversation. John was very dedicated to his family and business. He loved being on the lake and being part of that community. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Amanda, Katie and Ben I hope you can find some comfort in the wonderful memories left by John.

Amanda, I am so sorry for your loss of John, it’s been a long time since you and I spent time together celebrating your birthday on quads, you all dressed up, John making sure you had your cake at the end of the run. I would see John at the store when tackling Reno project number who knows what, John laughing and boisterous over his score of fluorescent pink tiles or something else of interest which would give him a challenge to sell. The world is truly a sadder place now and I hope you take the time to heal and remember. ♥️ hugs to you, your kids and the rest of your family.
