Obituary of Reginald Delaney

DELANEY, Reginald “Reg” – age 91 of Enfield, passed away peacefully on April 12th, 2025, in Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield. Born in Belmont, he was a son of Laurie and Isabelle (Carter) Delaney.

Reg came from a large family of three brothers and five sisters.

Reg started working in the woods in his early teens before joining the army in 1951 where he had a very successful career of more than 25 years. Much of his time was at the base in Gagetown, New Brunswick, but he also spent time in Germany and Ontario. After his time in the army, he then joined the commissioners which lasted for 9 years. 

Reg moved back to Truro in the 1990's where he worked at Claire 's Taxi and Electric Distributors. Reg loved to play pool, softball and to hunt, fish.  His favorite sports teams were the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Yankees. 

Reg was a life-time legion member and most Saturdays you would find him sitting with his buddies around the liars table laughing, joking and telling some wild tall tales. 

Reg is survived by his son, Terry (Stephanie), Fredericton, NB; siblings, Harold (Denise), Evelyn (Eric), Joan (Brian); several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Ruth; siblings, Bobby, Russell, Maudie, Jean, Georgine.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Homes Shubenacadie and Elmsdale. No service by request.
