Obituary of Michael Irwin Pedoniquott

PEDONIQUOTT, Michael Irwin – age 71, of Indian Brook, Nova Scotia, formerly of Neyaashiinigmiing, Cape Croker, Ontario. Michael passed away unexpectedly with his daughter, Cynthia and wife, Wendy by his side on March 27^th, 2025, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, Nova Scotia. Born in Owen Sound, Ontario, he was the son of the late Harry and Verena (Pedoniquott) Ashkewe. 

Michael worked most of his life as a welder and pipe fitter which took him across Canada and as far South as Tennessee, USA. He spent all his spare time playing his guitar and listening to music, which he loved!

Michael is survived by his wife, Wendy; and children, Cynthia Pedoniquott, Alana Grosbeck and Jacob Julian; grandson, Robert Paul III; brothers, Vincent (Kelly) Gray and Fred (Anita) Boyd; nieces, Isabella and Elizabeth Boyd; nephews, David, Ty and Mathew Gray; cousins, Rhonda, Dave (Marylynne), Martha, Nancy (Barry), Tony, Pete, Clifton Jr and Neal; aunts, Evelyn Wood and Winnie Ashkewe; life long friend, Paul Jones and many extended cousins.

Besides his parents, Verena and Harry Ashkewe, Michael is predeceased by grandparents, Lillian and Cleveland Pedoniquott; aunts, Lucy, Doris, Mary, Helen and Florence; uncles, Clayton, Clifton, Osbourne & Delmar; and childhood friend and dear cousin, Brian Pedoniquotte.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, March 29^th, 2025, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. Cremation to follow. A Memorial Service will be held at Neyaashiinigmiing (Cape Croker) on Saturday April 5^th, 2025.
