Obituary of Helen Muriel Miller

MILLERHelen Muriel, of Truro, formerly of Shubenacadie East, departed this life on February 6, 2025.

She was born February 13, 1925 in Upper Nine Mile River, daughter of the late Robert and Mabel (Barron) Roulston.

Following graduation from Provincial Normal College, she completed twenty-five years teaching in Hants and Colchester Counties. Retiring in 1982 she devoted time to her family, to her church, and to tutoring math students.

She was a member of Shubenacadie United Church where she served as an elder and a leader in C.G.I.T. Upon moving to Truro, she transferred membership to St. Andrew’s United Church. She held various offices in United Church Women, of which she was a life member.

She is survived by her daughter Gertrude, Great Village; sons, James (Amelia), Eastern Passage, Gordon Robert (Barbara), Lower Truro, Tom (Joanne) Bassett, Nanticoke, Ont., Bill (Susan) Stubbert, Cole Harbour, daughter-in-law, Marg Stubbert, Trenton, Ont.; grandchildren, Ann (Peter) Casey, Julie (Scott), Gordon Scot (Martha), Tracey (John) Eggenhuizen, Alexandra (Christopher) Zagorac, Carolyn and Peter; great grandchildren, Gordon Paul, Liam and Lucas, and Liam and Nora.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Tracey (1993), brother, James, sisters, Mary, Nettie, Emma Dalrymple and Elsie Bond, daughter-in-law Lynn, as well as Charles Stubbert, Veronica Stubbert, Robert Wayne Harris, Shirley McDougall, Gussie DeWolfe and Lawrence Bishop.

 

Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday, February 12th at St. Andrew’s United Church, 55 King Street, Truro, from where a Celebration of Life, on what would have been her 100th birthday, will take place at 11am February 13, 2025, Rev. Shannon MacLean officiating. Reception to follow.

Donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Church or a charity of choice.
