RHODDY (Dauphinee), Dara Mae- age 69, of Lantz, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025 in Braeside Home for Special Care, Middle Musquodoboit, with family by her side. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Lillian (Lively) Dauphinee.
Dara was a longtime employee of Cara Operations at the Halifax International Airport, working in the restaurant. She finished her working career at the Enfield Big Stop as a baker. Dara was a “people-person” who enjoyed being with family and friends. When she was in good health, she was focused on baking and cooking, and hosting family dinners and gatherings. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. At one point in her life, she was an intense broomball player, known for her ultra-competitive nature. She absolutely loved children -who were naturally drawn to her. Dara appreciated nature and had a soft spot for all pets and animals, especially birds.
Dara will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, Perry; children, Dereck (Chris), Tara (Leslie), Crystal (Howard) and Holly (Jeff); former daughter-in-law, Jennifer; grandchildren, Ryan, Alexander, Allyson, Madison and Makaila; brothers, Stephen (Carolyn), Donald, Tony and Timmy (Janice); several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, John and a brother, Derek Michael in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held 2pm Monday, February 10th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie, Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating. Spring burial to take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Milford.
