
Obituary of Burton Joseph MacPhee
MacPHEE, Burton Joseph “B.J.”, age 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 3, 2025 at the Magnolia Continuing Care Home in Enfield. Born on November 25, 1937 in North Salem to Joseph and Lucy (Anthony) MacPhee, he spent his entire life around the Shubenacadie area working hard (and having some fun) and operating BJ MacPhee Trucking Limited. In later years, after he passed the business reins over, he could be found swapping stories at the original “Shubie coffee club” and later on at Tim’s and Robins in Stewiacke. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the Farm Equipment Museum in Truro.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carole (Zwicker), daughter Vanda Palmer (Jim Joyce), sons Martin MacPhee and Vance (Sharmon) MacPhee; grandchildren David (Caylah) Knickle, Ashley Palmer, Taylor MacPhee and John MacPhee; great grandchildren Lennan LeBlanc, Clementine and Juniper Knickle as well as his sister Betty Lou (Malcolm)Ellis.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers Albro and Herbert (Gwen) and nephew Harlan.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4pm Saturday, February 8, 2025 in Ettinger’s Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. No funeral service by request. Burial will take place at a later date.
