Obituary of Martina Carpenter-Babin
CARPENTER-BABIN, Martina “Tina” – Age 63 of Stewiacke, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, August 12th, 2021, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Roger and Dorothy Giroux.
Tina, or “Marma” to her grandkids, was known to wear her heart on her sleeve and loved her family and friends with unwavering passion. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She would proudly share stories of the many accomplishments of her children and grandchildren with anyone that would listen. Never shy to share her thoughts and wouldn’t hesitate to tell those around her how great they looked. Some of Tina’s favorite memories are tearing up the dance floor with her lifelong dance partner, husband Francis, or watching her grandkids swim in their backyard pool.
Tina will be sadly missed by her husband, Francis; son, Christopher “Chris” (Susan), Beechville; daughter, Heather “Jake” (Rodrigo), Dartmouth; Priscilla (Nick), Dartmouth; Cora-Lee, Alberta; Darryl (Amanda), Dartmouth; Martina (Fred), Alberta; grandchildren, Kassidy, Zackary, Connor, Logan, Quinn, Maegwin, Kennady, Dawson, Kaydence, Carter, Cooper, JP, Olivia, and Derek.
Siblings, Cathy, Rachelle, and Michelle, numerous nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her daughter, Wendy, brothers, Tom and Roger, sister, Nanette.
Visitation will be held 5:30 -8:30 PM, Monday, August 16th, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway #2, Shubenacadie. Cremation to follow. Funeral service 2PM on Tuesday, August 17th, also at the Chapel of Ettinger Funeral Home. Burial date is to be determined.
Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Colchester East Hants Health Center ICU department, in particular,Dr Nadour, and his team who provided the most amazing care, sensitivity, and compassion, all the way through to her final passing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society, or the 6th Floor Oncology department of the IWK Children’s Hospital.
