Obituary of Jean Loretta Moore

MOORE (STONE) Jean Loretta - age 78 of Cooks Brook, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly surrounded by her family on March 2, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Viola (Weagle) Stone. Jean was a 15-year cancer survivor. She enjoyed camping and going to the senior’s dances. She was a member of the Gays River United Church. Jean worked at Moir’s Chocolate Factory in Halifax and later at the Salvage Association for 8 1/2 years as a secretary. She left work to become a mother and raise her children which was her highest calling in life. She always said she lived for her kids. With such a big and loving heart, she could be a mother to any child.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 55 years, Henry; children, Christopher (Sherry), Johnson City, NY, Christian, Spryfield, Dianna (David) Ryan, Bedford, Judy, Spryfield, Henry Jr., Mount Uniacke; very special foster sons, Douglas (Rachel) Leamon, Baddeck, Clyde (Debbie) Leamon, Edmonton; numerous other foster-children; sisters, Charlotte “Shirley” (Harold) Naugle, Middle Musquodoboit and June Moore, Elderbank; grandchildren, Isaac Miller, Emma Miller, Jayden Ryan, Jasmynn Ryan, Josie Moore; great granddaughter, Samara Cole; 6 foster grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sister, Doris Sawyer; grandson, Branden Cole.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:30 pm, Sunday, June 5, 2022 in Gays River United Church, Gays River, NS, Rev. Gerry Kerr officiating.
