Obituary of Joanne Patricia McDonald

McDONALD, Joanne Patricia – age 56 of Indian Brook.  It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Joanne on December 26, 2020 in the QEII Infirmary, Halifax.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of Joan Lotti McDonald and the late Alexander McDonald.

Joanne had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh.  She had an enormous heart and loved her children and grandchildren so much; they were her world.  Joanne was an awesome sister who will be dearly missed.  She will be remembered for her sense of humour, especially her April Fool’s pranks.  She was a light for everyone who knew her.

Besides her mother, Joanne is survived by the father of her children, William Paul Sr.; children, William Jr. (Shauntel) Paul and Joanna Paul; grandchildren, Annika, Willow and William III; sisters, Mary Ann McDonald, Sharon McDonald, Lisa McDonald, Arlene Labrador, Madeline Battiste, Sandra Sack, Lori Johnson; brothers, Ricky Petersen, Alexander McDonald, Michael William McDonald, David McDonald, Stephen Labrador, Joey Sack; many nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Besides her father, Joanne was predeceased by sisters, Anne Marie McDonald and  Karen McDonald; brothers, Robert “Bobby” McDonald and Willie Gehue.

A funeral mass will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Kateri Church, Indian Brook, Fr. Ron Cairns officiating.  Cremation will follow. A spring interment will be held at a later date.  COVID-19 provincial restrictions apply: masks are required and social distancing protocols must be adhered to.
