Dear Betty and Family,
Agnes and I want to express our most sincere condolences on the passing of Walter. Having known Walter through NSTU and RTO/RTA, we were fortunate to get to know you and the close relationship you and Walter shared over those many years. And though Walter and I butted heads over various issues, I always admired his passion and conviction for issues he felt important, and the fact that after all that, we could call Walter “ our good friend “.
Our prayers are with you.

Uncle Walter. I never realized how educators are our
every day hero’s until later in life after marrying an amazing educator. I did realize early in life how fortunate I was to have an uncle like you in my life. If you invested as much into being an educator as you did always putting your family first then i am confident there are many brighter minds in this world because of you. We should all strive to leave a legacy like yours.
Aunt Betty, cousins Matthew and Valerie and all the beautiful nieces and nephews our hearts ache for you. We offer our sincerest condolences. We are here for you all.

I was deeply saddened to read about the passing of Mr Walter Farmer. He was one of my most impactful teachers at HERH. His love of math and the school community as a whole was always evident by his interaction with his students and his high expectations for all. His work with HERH Student Council as an Advisor was focused and built leadership skills in his students which is still evident today. He always strived to be the role model his students could aspire to. My best memories of Walter are built on the 2 years that he taught excelerated Math to a rag-tag group of 6-8 Gr 11/Gr12 students and how he challenged our math skills but also our Citizenship skills. In later years his role as the Assistant Superintendent at the CCRSB School Board afforded me the opportunity to again draw on his guidence, knowledge and sense of purpose. I sincerely thank him for his many years of guidence and meaningful conversations. My regret is that I never really got to tell him this in person. He always had my highest regard and my heart is heavy today. Rest In Peace, and I know heaven just got a lot better at Math!! My sincerely condolences to Betty and family. He will never be forgotten.

My sincere condolences to Matthew and the rest of the Farmers family. Your father was a wonderful teacher, Vice Principal, and mentor to me. I had your Dad as a teacher when he first came to East Hants to teach math. He was always very patient with me and offered extra help. He was an excellent teacher, I just was not good at geometry. He seemed to have enjoyed his life and traveled so many places when he retired. I am sure you have wonderful memories to share and many stories to tell. Hang on to all of these to help you make thru your loss and difficult time.
