Obituary of Brian Joseph Knockwood

KNOCKWOOD, Brian Joseph – age 57, of Vancouver, formerly of Indian Brook, passed away September 16, 2020 in St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, BC. 

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Ralph and Yvonne (Francis) Knockwood.

Brian was a graduate of Dalhousie University and started his work career at Student Employment, Halifax. He was drawn Westward for work and has remained on the West Coast ever since. He worked for the homeless and at a women and children’s shelter in Vancouver. Brian was most recently a counsellor and first responder for Addiction Services Teams in Downtown Vancouver.

Brian is survived by siblings, Donna, Robert, Roddie, Colin and a large extended family.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Michael and Vaughn; sister, Debbie; a niece and a nephew.

Visitation will be held beginning at 11 am Saturday, September 26 at 20 Poplar Street, Indian Brook, from where a traditional service will be held 10:30am Monday, September 28, 2020.  Burial will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Brian’s memory.
