Isabelle helped bring life from the stories of the residential school. So many teachers use her book to educate their students. Her legacy will live on through, "Out of Depths". Sending the family the warmest of thoughts. Msit no'kmaq

Our thoughts and prayers are wth you all for your loss. I am grateful and honoured to know Isabelle. HER words of comfort and wisdom when we last met will always be with me. Both of my daughters Soleil and Emerelle have had the privilege of meeting her and spending time with her as well. She is a great woman, elder, activist, story teller, writer and role model to all who have crossed her path! May the Creator keep you all close to each other, knowing that Isabelle is still guiding us all with her beautiful spirit, being held in the Creator's hands. With love and sympathy, Kathy and family ,Toronto

Isabelle taught me a lot and scolded me often. She was an amazing, strong warrior woman with a wicked sense of humour. During a high tide on the Shubie River, the two of us were keeping an eye on the Truckhouse. We watched as the water came higher and higher, grabbing what we could and hauling it up the dyke. In the end we sat on the dyke and watched stuff float away...including the decking around the truck house that floated away with the empty water jug sitting nicely on top of it. The hilarity of that image broke the stress of the truckhouse flooding and is one of my favourite memories of Isabelle.
We are all Treaty people. Thank you for the lessons.
