Mrs Tays (Olive), was my grade one teacher. She and her husband Bill both worked in the school system and they were very warm and supportive for young ones. Mrs Tays often spoke about her family and her pride and love for them was evident from her conversations and stories. My condolences during this time of loss.

I feel sad to read about the passing of Mrs.Tays, and pass along my condolences to all of you and your families. We are very sorry to lose such a good friend and neighbour as Olive. We have known Olive (and Bill) since we bought the old farm house in 1987. We shared many cups of tea (and hot water) over the years. We will miss both of them very much.

It is with heartfelt sympathy that we learned of Olive's passing. Olive and her husband Bill were so very kind to my parents Earle and Dorothy Burton and in particular such a blessing to my mother after our father passed away. I always looked forward to visiting with her each summer when I went down home, so I could thank her again. Olive and I exchanged Christmas cards each year and this year I missed hers and sensed perhaps she wasn't well..
May she rest in peace.
I have to add that I always thought Olive was beautiful and reminded me so of Queen Elizabeth. I don't know if I ever told her that.
I will miss her.
Philip, Wendy and Heather...I send my sympathy and prayers that God will comfort you.

Grammy, I love you very much. Many of my best memories of growing up in Nova Scotia involve you and Grampy. Staying over at the house in Cooks Brook over March Break, tobogganing down the hills of your field in winter, and of course the many meals shared at the table (or, kids table) for Christmas, Easter, or just any random weekend.
I'm glad to know you're reunited with Grampy in heaven, and to have you in my life smiling down on me everyday.

To cousins Phillip, Wendy and Heather, their partners and families, and their extended families. Your mother ( my aunt) is / was among the most favourite people of my / our extended family. I have cherished memories of visits to the Tays family home and farm in Cook's Brook from our summer vacations. One of my most favourite memories will be of her making chili con carne in the kitchen of the "old farmhouse" - which I believe was that of Uncle Bill's parents. Following my completion of university at McGill, my relocation to Canada's west coast made visits with Olive and Bill far fewer.
We were never so pleased as to have the opportunity to host both Olive and Bill here in North Vancouver as a part of their 50th wedding anniversary celebrations, when they took an Alaska cruise from here, and topped it off with a return to Nova Scotia by Via Rail from here to Truro. How Candadian, and how Nova Scotian!
Our family enjoyed a few visits with Olive and Bill when we visited my in-laws living in Pleasantville outside Bridgewater. We always looked for the opportunity to visit; they always welcomed the opportunity to "catch up" and both loved and enjoyed "little people" as I always referred to our younger daughters.
Olive and Bill will now be together after a few years. Much love to you all. Our thoughts are very much with you on this day. They will live on in our memories.
Brian, Jennifer, Laurel and Hayley Gavin - North Vancouver, BC

Nov. 1976 I spent time at the Iwk. Uncle Bill & Aunt Olive surprised me with a visit & a gift. In the box was a white vase and a dusty pink china rose. 44 years later I still treasure this gift. As you grief this day may you find comfort & strength in each other & in knowing Olive is now in Heaven with Christ & her beloved Bill. May the Lord bless you &keep you, May the Lord make his face to shine upon you,& be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

Sorry to hear about your Mom. She was always such a quiet, graceful lady. Dad (Ivan) & Mom (Bertha) always enjoyed visiting your parents. Dad, especially, loved pulling pranks on Bill at the school garage. All the bus drivers had such fun telling jokes and stories. We all have such great memories to cherish. Our thoughts are with you.
