Obituary of Ernest Edward Jarvis

JARVIS, Ernest Edward “Ern” – age 91 of Enfield passed away peacefully in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on May 17, 2020.  Born in London, Ontario he was a son of the late Charles and Gladys (Donovan) Jarvis.

Ern was in the Royal Canadian Navy for over 27 years retiring in 1973 from where he went to work for Clarence Farm Services, Stewiacke for over 17 years.  He enjoyed gardening, rug hooking and hobby farming.  Ern was a charter member of the Musquodoboit Valley Lions Club and a transfer member of the Enfield/Elmsdale and District Lions Club.  He served District 41N2 as cabinet secretary/treasurer 1996-1997.  Ern was proud to be a member of the Lions Club as well as a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 111, Shubenacadie.

Ern is survived by his wife, Joan; children, George, Dartmouth; Beverley (Eric) Duffy, N.B.; Susan (Jeff) Silvieus, New York; Peter (Jennie) Jarvis, Upper Musquodoboit; grandchildren, Tim (Allison) Silvieus; Nathan Silvieus (Zoe); Hannah Silvieus; Matthew Jarvis (Amelia); great-grand daughter, Eva Silvieus.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by brothers, Robert and Charles; sister, Florence.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions a funeral service will be held at a later date.
