TUPPER, Alton William – age 96 of Bedford, formerly of Carrolls Corner, passed away on May 10, 2020 at Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Hospital with his daughter Sheila by his side. Born in Scot’s Bay, he was a son of the late Robie and Rena (Munroe) Tupper.
Alton was a veteran of the Second World War and was wounded in action in Belgium. He worked for L.E. Shaw Ltd. for 38 years and was a member of the Gays River United Church and The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 111, Shubenacadie. In his younger days he enjoyed working in his rock garden and hunting and fishing. Alton was known for his quick wit and unique sense of humour.
Alton will be sadly missed by his wife of 72 years, Ruby (Smith); children, Wayne (Donna) Tupper, Sheila (Bill) English, Greg (Rena) Tupper, Wanda (Carl) Isnor and Ann Tupper (Jim Coe); 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by grandson, Robbie Tupper; brothers, Harley, Orley, Frank, Calvin, Donald; sister, Ruth.
Memorial donations may be made to the Gays River United Church or to a charity of your choice..
A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm Wednesday August 26, 2020 in Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, Lori Crocker DM officiating.
