Obituary of Santina De Amicis

Please share a memory of Santina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

De AMICIS (D’Intino), Santina - age 101 of Milford, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2020 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born on October 10, 1918, in Castiglione, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Emidio D'Intino and Carmela Venturi.

Santina immigrated to Canada with her young son in 1953 to join her husband in Nova Scotia. Here she enjoyed a simple, abundant life. She cherished her family and faith and made the best of each and every day. Her quiet strength and peaceful spirit served her well during the many years of her life. Santina was happiest when nurturing her family and friends. She loved to spend time in her vegetable gardens and cook delicious food for others. She knit and crocheted countless beautiful items for loved ones. Santina also relished in sharing stories and imparting wisdom from her rich life experiences, a gift for which we are forever grateful.  Her spirit and strength will live on in each of us and in all the lives she has touched.

Santina is survived by her son, Peter and daughter-in-law, Almeda, Milford; granddaughters, Natalia (Chris) Baker, Quispamsis; Carolyn De Amicis (Chuck Roberts), Truro; Julia De Amicis (Remi Larade), Enfield; great-grandchildren, Henry, Willem and Theo Baker and Gabby, Pete and Charlie Roberts.  Santina will also be deeply missed by her sister, Giuseppa D’Intino Ranella, Montreal; special friends, Gianfranco Setta of Paris, France; Joan Tapuska, Wallace.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Natale; her two infant daughters; brothers, Bernadino and Camillo D'Intino.

Our gratitude to the staff at Cedarstone Enhanced Care for their loving care of Santina while she resided with them.

A private family burial has taken place in Saint Bridget's cemetary, Shubenacadie, officiated by Deacon Wilfred Boudreau.

A Celebration Mass will be held at Saint Bridget's Church at a later date.
