Obituary of Sandra Marie Cogger

Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
COGGER (MacDONALD), Sandra - age 66 of Stewiacke, passed away surrounded by friends and family on January 14, 2020. Born in Inverness, she was a daughter of the late Dan Lawrence and Mary Cristie MacDonald. Being the youngest of a large set of siblings, Sandra developed a strong sense of self and a determined personality. She is known for her kind and friendly disposition; always up for a game of cards or a visit with friends. She is infamous for wearing her housecoat for tea. She has been an active member of the community and has been a long-time member of the Stewiacke legion. Sandra had a 43 year loving marriage with Butch and over these years, they enjoyed dancing, trips to the beach together, camping and going for drives. They were blessed with two children that have felt their mothers love in all aspects of their lives and have benefitted from her support and sense of humor. She had six grandchildren who enjoyed her antics and jokes, her cheers and claps from the sidelines or audience, and the teaching of crib, cards and biscuit making. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and always brought her a smile, even when times felt weary. Sandra is a loved mother, grandmother, friend, and community member who made all feel welcome in her home and heart. She will be missed by many. She will be sadly missed by her children, Wanda (Dwayne) Joy, Salmon River; Mark (Jill) Cogger, Stewiacke; grandchildren, Grayson, Hannah, Nadia, Jacob, Corbin and Raiden; siblings, Pauline MacMillan, Port Hood; Leonard (June) MacDonald, Port Hood; Barb (Joey) Landry, Antigonish; Gerard (Elizabeth) MacDonald, Judique and Donalda Picco, Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Louis; siblings, Marg, Irene, Donald Bernard, Laurence, Burt, Hughena, Cathy and Mary Jeanette. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm Monday, January 20th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie. Funeral service 11am Tuesday January 21st in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, Shubenacadie, Father Darius Miskowicz officiating. Spring interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, East Stewiacke. Mark and Wanda would like to say a special thank you to Sandra’s daughter in-law, Jill Cogger for the love and care she gave during the last few weeks of life. If it was not for your will, love and desire it would have been difficult for us to keep our mother at home. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the care and support received from the Palliative Care team of East Hants, with particular appreciation to her community nurse over her time of illness. Donations in memory of Sandra may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences, words of comfort and memories of Sandra may be shared with the family at www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
