Dear Michele and Family,
It was with deep deep sadness that I learned of Louis’s recent passing. I offer my sincere condolences. I knew Louis very well as I worked with him as a colleague and friend in the JAG. We shared may tough legal issues and many tough operational challenges but Louis was always a rock. I always counted on him for honest, professional and common sense advice. He always delivered. Of course, Louis was also well respected for his humour and his compassion. No matter how serious or tense the situation, Louis always offered a dry humorous comment or a calm understanding that lightened the moment. I cannot believe he is gone. He was far too young to leave us. While you may be experiencing some dark days, please know that Louis was a a bright light, a role model and leader for many in the JAG and the CAF. He left a lasting legacy of quality work, dedication, honesty and love for his family. I thank him, you and the entire family for his service and your many sacrifices for the JAG, the CAF and Canada. He will never be forgotten. Take care and Fiat Justitia ( let just prevail). Major-General (ret’d) Blaise Cathcart,QC
